Spiro, Oklahoma

OBITUARY

Charlene (Wells) Releford was born February 3, 1913, to Henry and Daisy (Voss) Wells in Morrilton, Arkansas. She accepted Christ at an early age.

Charlene moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas where she met and married Claude Phillips; this unity brought to them nine sons, six have preceded her in death along with her first husband, and their father Claude Phillips. Later she married Jack Releford who has also preceded her in death.

Charlene was a loving, wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, great grandmother and a very, very good friend. She loved to cook, garden and can but her greatest love was fishing; winter, spring, summer or fall you could find her on Spiro Lake most of her time. Charlene was a lady with a giving heart.

She leaves to mourn her three sons, Jerry Lee Phillips and wife, LaDell of Fort Coffee, Oklahoma, Charles Preston Phillips of Spiro, Oklahoma and Dalmare Eugene Phillips and wife, Elizabeth of Spiro, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Ms. Charlene was so wonderful. She never judged but she sure told you how things were. Oh and what a great cook!! I am thankful she was a companion for my great grandfather Gene and I know they are fishing up in heaven. Thanks for all your wisdom, clothing
and shoes!!!

I loved how welcoming Ms Charlene was any time I wanted to visit with her. She was so wise and had such a sense of self. I hope someday to have that same atmosphere of content around me and my household. Peace be with her and her family during this time.

Many knew her as The Fish Lady for decades. She was a great friend to our family, in many ways like a grandma to our children, always loving, giving and sharing a little bit of what she had with family. We had such a good relationship I called her Charlie
Brown, whether talking on the phone or in person, as soon as I would ask her "How are you Charlie Brown" she would always give me a big smile and say, thank the good lord for another day. Back in the day, her pecan pies and soul food cooking was like none
other. We would talk many times about her shooting for 100. Well Charlie, you almost made it, thank you for 99 and 1/3. We'll miss you Charlie Brown. May the Holy Spirit comfort the family during their loss.
